Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– Are you an artist looking to enter a tremendously cool contest? Well I have just the thing for you. First Second Books, Destroy Comics and Paul Pope are looking to promote the upcoming “Battling Boy” (which is superb, I may add), and they’re having a “Magic T-Shirt Art Contest.” Create your own personalized Battling Boy with your own animal totem t-shirt for him, and you could win an awesome collection of swag for the book (including the book, itself). None other than David Mack (aka nicest guy ever) is judging the contest, so that’s a cool little thing in its own right.
– In a piece titled “The New 52 Has Stopped Working” a guy talks about how DC should be doing things like he wants them to be done. This is a real thing, and to me is just really lazy. Besides just saying how he wishes things should be, he doesn’t really give any actual reasons why they should be like that besides them being his desire. While I agree with the sentiment that the New 52 is hardly a high point for DC’s creativity, I do think there are more fundamental and noticeable reasons than low hanging fruit of controversy like Orson Scott Card (whom has nothing whatsoever to do with the New 52) and Spoiler. Be better than that, article guy.
– Is Steve Morris writing a “Wonder Woman” movie? Hell no. That’s as likely as Max Landis writing a Wonder Woman movie is, probably. However, I would LOVE to read/watch a version of his plot synopsis. I love the concept of a transformed Hitler being Cheetah.
– For those in LA and NYC, know that I am very, very envious of you. After all, Hayao Miyazaki’s final film, titled “The Wind Rises” is getting released in those two spots between November 8 and 14 for an Oscar qualifying run. While it’s certain to be released elsewhere sometime in early 2014 I’d imagine, is it so much to ask for Anchorage, Alaska to be added to the initial Oscar markets? Yes? Dammit.
– I’m not sure if this is a thing we knew, but Mahmud Asrar is clearly not lacking in work after leaving DC, as his Instagram of an “Indestructible Hulk” cover he’s working on shows. Have I mentioned how awesome that guy is?
