Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.
– Could the Marvel universe meet Disney or Star Wars characters? Umm…probably not. Or rather, I hope not, as Vin Diesel continues to tease Marvel film ideas a whole lot for a guy that hasn’t been cast in anything.
– Joe Hill talks with USA Today, and as per usual, it’s well worth a read, especially with this week bringing the beginning of the end for his series with Gabriel Rodriguez “Locke & Key.”
– In good news for everyone involved, Marvel and Gary Friedrich have settled their long standing lawsuit over the rights to Ghost Rider as a character. Terms were not disclosed, but it’s good to get an ugly affair like this out of the way.
– Inspired by the Star Wars, the comic adaptation of George Lucas’ original script, being released by Dark Horse, Tom Scioli did a rough version of what he would do with the open of the script. Well worth taking a look at, as it’s a great creator bringing raw visualization to a story like this.
– As part of SPX, Heidi McDonald of The Beat is going to be giving a talk at the Library of Congress titled “After Watchmen and Maus: Exploring the Graphic Novel.” If you’re in the D.C. area or heading to SPX, I highly recommend attending. I’d be there if I wasn’t in Alaska!
– As Multiversity reader Josh Lazarus pointed out, only 4 of DC’s original New 52 creative teams remain. It seems like a lot, but honestly, I’m not sure if that is really that much turnover. We’re now fully two years in, and books even at Marvel turn artists over like crazy. Sure, writers stick, but the whole staff hardly does. But it is an interesting point for sure.
