Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

However, I need to report that my eye troubles have taken a bit of a downturn as my left eye has experienced some hemorrhaging, pretty much blinding me in that eye. This has necessitated my wearing an eyepatch in order to see a bit more clearly through my right eye. (See photo for my new pirate persona!)
My eye doctor is continuing a combination of laser and injection surgery, but there is a possibility that I may require scalpel surgery in the near future. I need to begin treatments that will better control my diabetes and blood pressure before he can do that, though.
It’s a terrible bit of news for anyone, but Pérez is both one of the most brilliant artists and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met inside or outside of the industry. In 1997, when I was 13 I went to Orlando Megacon with my family, and while there Pérez took the time to talk with my family and I about comics, his art, Wonder Woman and much more. Honestly, as a kid who loved the X-Men, Impulse and Reese’s (in that order) and that’s about it, he made me care about everything he talked about even though in my mind what he was saying wasn’t a huge deal until that day. His enthusiasm and friendliness was unparalleled, and for that reason and many others, I wish George a full and speedy recovery, or at least as close to that as he can get.
– Are you going to your comic shop today? You are? You better be! While you’re there, get your pre-order in for “Umbral” from writer Antony Johnston and artist Christopher Mitten. It’s yet another incredible looking release from Image Comics, and its final order cut-off date is today. Talk to your retail store today!
– Speaking of new Image books, Comics Alliance has a preview of “Velvet” from Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting, and it looks – shockingly – amazing.
– I missed this before, but Brian Michael Bendis responding to someone questioning the feminine focus of his X-Men work on Tumblr is freaking spectacular. Like his work or not, Bendis is never not the genuine article and someone who seems to be fair with damn near everyone. This, my friends, is awesome.
– Top selling digital comic “Injustice” is going on hiatus until January 2014 besides an upcoming annual, with writer Tom Taylor returning to put together another run on the best-selling fan favorite.
