Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.

Thug Notes, having already done a great job of demystifying some of the greatest books in English literature, decided it was now time to tackle the graphic novel that made Time Magazine’s Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century: “Watchmen”. Not only are these shorts hilarious in presentation, but they cram in a surprising amount of real information and analysis in their brief run-times. Sure, we’ve all read “Watchmen”, but I guarantee you’ll either learn something new or just love how they re-frame material that we’ve all gone over so many times as to render it rote.

Harry Shearer is leaving The Simpsons after voicing a large chunk of the characters for over 25 years. Although co-creator James L. Brooks did tweet to Shearer that they should still try and talk this out, it looks like Shearer is already gone on to greener pastures. Producer Al Jean said they wouldn’t not retire Shearer’s characters but rather recast, but can you imagine this list of Springfielders voiced by anyone else?

  • Rev. Lovejoy
  • Dr. Hibbert
  • Kent Brockman
  • Otto Mann
  • Rainer Wolfcastle/McBain
  • Seymour Skinner
  • Waylon Smithers
  • Ned Flanders
  • MONTGOMERY BURNS?!?!?!?!

– Did you know that you can read all volumes of “Atomic Robo” online, for free, completely legally (and you should because it is fantastic)? If you did, then did you also know that Wegener and Clevinger are going to bring those comics back into print in awesome hardcovers and they’re using Kickstarter to make sure that happens properly?

– If the S-that-isn’t-an-S stands for hope, what does the hammer-and-sickle stand for? If you’ve got 23,511 rubles, you can pick up this Superman: Red Son statue and find out, since one would assume for that price (~$469) they would have that information included in the box somewhere.

– So, apparently, buying tickets for NYCC 2015 was not a smooth experience. If you want tickets and were not able to get them already, you can still pick up Thursday tickets here, a limited quantity at NYCC Special Edition (June 6th & 7th), and more at an upcoming event at Midtown Comics in NYC.

Greg Matiasevich

Greg Matiasevich has read enough author bios that he should be better at coming up with one for himself, yet surprisingly isn't. However, the years of comic reading his parents said would never pay off obviously have, so we'll cut him some slack on that. He lives in Baltimore, co-hosts (with Mike Romeo) the Robots From Tomorrow podcast, writes Multiversity's monthly Shelf Bound column dedicated to comics binding, and can be followed on Twitter at @GregMatiasevich.
