Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email our team at rundown@multiversitycomics.com.
– Bad news for Brian Michael Bendis fans and even worse news for his haters. “Uncanny X-Men” #600, the issue of Bendis’s X-Men run has been pushed back to October. The delay is a result of Marvel wanting the issue to come out after the conclusion of “Secret Wars.” Hilariously, “UXM” #600 will still probably come out before the final issue of “Hawkguy.”
– Most comic companies released their solicitations yesterday so expect some Soliciting Multiversity in the weeks to come. For now, rejoice in the fact that “Phonogram” is coming back! Team Phonogram has already said there were plans to release the book towards the end of the summer but this is final confirmation on a book plenty of people have been waiting a long time for. So this news is less a shocker and more just a sigh of relief.
– Speaking of solicitations, Marvel will be releasing manga style variants for their August 2015 releases. When reached for comment, Marvel set out this video explaining the company’s plans to further incorporate manga into Marvel’s future.
– Chris Pratt told GQ that he’s signed on for more films as Peter Quill beyond the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. Specifically, he’s signed to two more sequels (yikes) and other spin-off films within Marvel. Remember when he said the best part of making Guardians of the Galaxy was finishing it and getting to come home and see his kid again? Yeah, he’s going to have a lot more of those moments for the next decade.
– Fear the Walking Dead has cast famed musician and actor Rubén Blades. Blades has an esteemed career in Latin jazz so I can’t wait to see him bust open a walker with a guitar. Give me either that, or a shot for shot remake of the first season of The Walking Dead with cut-to shots of AMC executives gleefully swimming in money.
– A massive spoiler for Captain America: Civil War leaked on the Ol’ Internet yesterday. The leak came about when an extra took a photo of a prop that gives away a major plot point. As is Hollywood tradition, the extra was found, hanged, and quartered in front of Kevin Feige, who sat on a replica of the Yggdrasil throne from “Secret Wars.”
