Welcome back to The Rundown, our daily breakdown on comic news stories we missed from the previous day. Have a link to share? Email me at david@multiversitycomics.com.

– Villains Month stars today for DC, and Buzzfeed has a first look at how the lenticular covers work in some anigifs, and honestly, they really don’t look like anything spectacular. Don’t get me wrong, they may end up being the end all, be all for comics as Buzzfeed wants us to think (who gets the award for overstated awesomeness of the day with their article titled “DC’s 3D Covers are the Most Amazing to Happen to Comics”), but for now, they sort of just look like a standard 3D cover. This is lining up to maybe be the most controversial story of the year, especially given the dearth of lenticular covers that were allocated to retailers and how poorly the whole situation was handled.

That’s, you know, without factoring in that there are already 500+ auctions up on eBay for “villains month.” It may be a financial success for DC, but holy crap, this whole thing seems like a disaster to me.

– In the most unlikely of mash ups, “The Dark Knight Rises” meets “The Notebook.” It’s so much better when you’ve read the production notes for DKR about Christian Bale and Tom Hardy’s loving embrace on set.

This interview with Brian Michael Bendis with The Oregonian is really quite good. The guy gets haterade a lot, but Bendis is never not an interesting and gracious guy. Plus, good writer!

– The man, the myth, the legend, Jeff Smith, will be touring to support the release of the complete RASL collection. Sadly, there are no Alaska dates on his tour. This makes me sad.

– Chip Zdarsky’s “Who’s Next?” ad for Image has arrived and um…well, you should take a look at it. It’s very Chip.
