Marvel Comics have announced writer Mark Russell and artist Bob Quinn will helm the ‘From the Ashes’ era relaunch of “X-Factor” this summer. The series will see the government reform the team in response to the post-Krakoa mutant groups popping up around the globe (including some endorsed by their own states), with Angel and Havok as co-leaders, and recruits like Pyro, Frenzy, and Feral. “Whether they believe in their actions or are just doing it for a check, the members of X-Factor are no fools when it comes to shady politics. As hidden agendas rear their ugly head, they’ll fight against the dark consequences and disastrous public opinion from the inside!”

Russell, who previously worked with Quinn on various Dynamite titles, states, “The thing I’ve always loved about the X-Men is that they’re characters first, Super Heroes second. So being able to write characters like Havok and Angel and Frenzy in a post-Krakoa reality is an opportunity to write about what I really care about, which is how do we help each other survive the apathy of the world we live in?”

Quinn adds, “It’s so exciting to be back and drawing mutants in the X-Men universe again, and doubly exciting to work with Mark again. To my mind, Mark’s mix of humor and ability to shine a light on the peculiarities of modern society make him the perfect writer to tackle the relaunch of ‘X-Factor.’ Drawing this team and every unexpected twist and turn of the story has been a blast so far, and I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on it.”

The new “X-Factor” #1 will be released on August 14, and mark the fifth ongoing of the same name, following the original 1985-1998 run, Peter David’s 2006-2013 run, its 20-issue relaunch, and Leah Williams and co.’s 2020 run that led into “The Trial of Magneto.” In the meantime, you’ll be able to read a new Russell and Quinn collaboration in “Blood Hunters” #1, starring Clint Barton/Hawkeye and tying into “Black Widow & Hawkeye,” when it releases tomorrow, May 8; you can also doublecheck the previously announced ‘From the Ashes’ series here.
