After a successful launch by Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson, “Jughead,” the second of the re-vamped classic Archie titles, is getting a new creative team, starting in September. Ryan North (“The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl,” “Adventure Time”) and Derek Charm (“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” “Powerpuff Girls”) are coming to Riverdale to continue the stories of everyone’s favorite hamburger-obsessed, asexual tall drink of water.

Charm is providing pencils for Zdarsky’s final two issues, so he will actually be starting with the book next month. North, who, coincidentally, works with outgoing artist Henderson on “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl,” has a great sense of humor, and makes sense to follow Zdarsky on the book.

In an interview with the Daily Dot, North talks about bringing Sabrina, the Teenage Witch into the book, and this quote, to me, shows that the book is in good hands:

I see Jughead as being generally this really rational dude, this anchor of sensibility in a world of boy/girl-crazy friends. And Sabrina’s interesting because she’s literally magic. She is an actual witch in a world where witchcraft isn’t known to be a real thing, and she’s got this edge to her that you don’t often see in Riverdale. I think Jughead’s just the kind of person who I think would be a lot of fun to see interact with that.

Look for issue #9 in September, and Charm’s first issue in June.
