Marvel Comics have announced a new “Sabretooth” series, written by author Victor LaValle, with art by Leonard Kirk, and colors by Rain Beredo. Few details, including its length, were given beyond that, but the series will reveal what the murderous mutant (real name Victor Creed) has been up to since being imprisoned on Krakoa, and “it’s not what you expect!”

The book marks LaValle’s fourth comics project, after “Hellraiser Bestiary,” “Destroyer,” and “Eve,” and his first at Marvel. (All of his previous comics were published by BOOM! Studios.) It also marks the latest solo series for Wolverine’s nemesis, who previously starred in self-titled miniseries from 1993 and 2004, as well as 1996’s “Sabretooth and Mystique,” and 2002’s “Sabretooth: Mary Shelley Overdrive.”

In addition to those books, Sabretooth had a prominent role in a number of X-titles after a heroic face turn in 2014-15’s Avengers/X-Men event ‘Axis,’ which lasted until the final issue of “Weapon X” at the end of 2018. He was imprisoned the following year in the final issue of “House of X,” after refusing to comply with the new law forbidding the killing of humans, and has been off panel since.

Per Marvel’s newly released solicitations for December, “Sabretooth” #1 will be released on January 5, 2022, alongside the first issue of Logan’s new series, “X Lives of Wolverine.” A full solicit for both comics will be released next month.
