After the book’s stunning domination of Multiversity’s 2012 in Review awards, it’s no surprise that “Saga” continues to own the awards for 2013. But now the book from Brian K. Vaughan, Fiona Staples and Image Comics has added a lot more awards to its mantle, as The Harvey Awards were belong to them.
The team and the book managed to pull in the awards for Best Ongoing or Limited Series, Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Single Issue, Best Colourist, and Best New Series at the Harveys, and likely would have won even more if there were any more that they could in theory have been nominated for (I suppose they did lose Best Cover Artist to Dave Aja). This is unsurprising, and continues the year of coronation for the book.
Other winners included the aforementioned Dave Aja for cover artist (mostly for Hawkeye), Darwyn Cooke beating Chris Ware in Best Original Graphic Album, Jaime Hernandez taking the Best Cartoonist and more. The full list of winners can be found here, and congrats to all of the winners. They’re well deserved from my perspective.
