We told you all about the book earlier this week because we’re sweet like that, but now the official word is out, and as such we can share the official details, officially and with official confirmation.

As we told you, SACRIFICE is a self-published/distributed six-issue mini-series about time travel, Aztecs and Joy Division. However, now we know the official solicit information:

“Aztecs vs. Joy Division fans…You haven’t even thought of such a thing. Humphries & Rose have. Listen.”
— KIERON GILLEN, writer of PHONOGRAM, UNCANNY X-MEN, and THOR

What happens when you’re ripped from the 21st century and thrown into the middle of one of the greatest — and most bloodthirsty — civilizations in human history? How do you survive a strange world of war, blood, sacrifice, and death?

Join Hector, a dude on a one-way trip through the past, the present, and the psychedelic into the the glory of the Aztec Empire in SACRIFICE — a new comic book by SAM HUMPHRIES (writer of OUR LOVE IS REAL and one of Wizard’s “Five Writers to Watch in 2011”) and rising star DALTON ROSE. December 2011…BLOOD WILL TEAR US APART!

In addition to being written by Humphries with art by Dalton Rose and editing by Alejandro Arbona, the colors are done by Pete Toms, the lettering by Troy Peteri, additional production by Phil Smith and art direction by Dylan Todd.

The first issue will have six variants to go with it, exclusive to where you buy it. There is the First Edition (pictured) as well as the Jade (my personal favorite), Warrior and Emperor editions available at participating retailers (see a full list of retailers right here), the Obsidian edition exclusive to Things From Another World (the only online retailer for the comic), and the Shadow edition exclusive to Collector’s Paradise, which will be available at the comic’s release party on December 14th. You also will be available to purchase the comic digitally if you so prefer.

So what are you waiting for? Get your pre-orders in! The first issue is out December 14th, the second January 12th. We’ll give you more info as we get it, but we can assure you that if you like good comics, you’re going to want to purchase this one. As a reminder, there is no point trade waiting for this one, as the book is completely self-produced and there may not be a trade to wait for.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
