Launching next week in Canada, a new convention from Saskatchewan will be taking place with the Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo. Offering up a smaller and cheaper alternative to the popular Fan Expo in Vancouver that just took place, the smaller focus will give the spotlight to select local creators from that area including Kurtis Wiebe, Riley Rossmo, Tyler Jenkins, Owen Gieni, Ed Brisson, Michael Walsh and Johnnie Christmas among others.

So it’s basically a murderer’s row of Image creators that we love? Sounds good.

SEE Press Release

The wait is almost over for pop culture fans in Saskatchewan. The inaugural Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo (SEE) is bringing together a group of comic creators who call Image Comics their home. “Image Comics has such a stellar roster of talent,” says Chris Bernhard, one of the organizers of the Expo. “We really wanted to spotlight creators who are doing groundbreaking work, and Image is where that is happening.”

Pairing creative teams, the Expo hopes to spotlight some great past works, as well as ongoing series. Past Shuster award-winner, Kurtis Wiebe and Riley Rossmo are both guests and teamed up to create the critically acclaimed Green Wake. Rossmo and Wiebe have crossed paths again, more recently on Rossmo’s Dia De Los Muertos.

Kurtis Wiebe is also joined by his co-creator, Tyler Jenkins to celebrate Peter Panzerfaust’s success and leap from the comic page to digital motion comic and upcoming TV series. Also joining the Expo roster is Owen Gieni, known for his past work on Debris, Glory and the upcoming Love Stories (to Die For).

Nominated this year for a Shuster Award, Ed Brisson makes his way to the Bridge City joined by two collaborative partners, one from the past and one from the present. Comeback (the series for which Brisson is nominated) teamed Ed with artist Michael Walsh for the second time (previously on Murder Book). Walsh is also the artist on the upcoming first issue of Ales Kot’s Zero.

Brisson’s new ongoing, Sheltered, with Johnnie Christmas is currently burning up the charts.

SEE will run from 10am-8pm September 14th and 15th at Prairieland Park and features close to 60 exhibitors of pop culture merchandise and entertainment memorabilia, and artist booths. For more information on SEE and featured guests or to purchase tickets visit http://www.saskexpo.com.

The Saskatchewan Entertainment Expo is proudly partnered with Realty Executives, Robertson-Stromberg Barristers and Solicitors, Next Level Game Exchange, Tourism Saskatoon and Tourism Saskatchewan.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
