Say Hello To Kamala Khan In This “Ms. Marvel” #1 First Look [Preview]

So, anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fan of “Captain Marvel” right now. I think Kelly Sue DeConnick really revitalised Carol Danvers as a character and is writing one of the best superhero books around. That’s why I was initially hesitant at the idea of a relaunch of “Ms. Marvel” as I felt that was a moniker that had served it’s purpose. I was entirely wrong, apparently, as G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona’s take on the series looks to be one of the most unique comic books coming out in 2014. Following the story of Kamala Khan, a young Muslim girl from New Jersey who idolises Captain Marvel and is granted powers by those pesky Terrigen Mists, Wilson and Alphona seem to be taking Marvel’s focus on smaller, character-driven stories to a new level.

Be sure to check out the preview of the first issue down below as well as the story featuring Kamala from this week’s “All New Marvel Now Point One” issue. Oh, and there’s a Marvel press release below the preview for more information. Check out the sweet Jamie McKelvie design variant too.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
