Man, Marvel LOVES it’s Avengers movies, doesn’t it?! We’ve got the main three heroes (Iron Man, Thor, Cap), the main title (Avengers), the Runaways have a film currently casting/pre-production, and not only is Nick Fury and SHIELD getting it’s own movie with Black Panther, Iron Fist, and Doc Strange having rumored films too, but the Black Widow will get one as well!

At a press conference held for the release of the blu-ray of Iron Man 2, Kevin Feige announced that they are in fact working with Johansson to develop a Black Widow film. “We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts,” Feige said, although he did note that the Avengers comes first.

What would happen in this film? No one knows yet. Johansson wants to do something with the character and has for a while, but I’m unsure if the Black Widow could hold a solo film. To me, it feels a lot like an Elektra in the making. But people (that aren’t me) love Johansson and loved her brief role as the Russian spy who somehow didn’t have a Russian accent, so we’ll see what happens. Black Widow does have a very rich history in the comics, with Paul Cornell having just written a pretty good origin reboot story, so there’s plenty for them to go with. I guess we’ll see how it plays out.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
