The moment everyone has been waiting for is here: the teaser trailer to Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim series is here. I’ve watched it three times consecutively, and I can say wholeheartedly that I think Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is going to nail the look and feel of this beloved comic. The video game embellishments, the feel between Scott and Ramona, and the hilarious violence are all here, and it is glorious.
Also on display are the evil ex-boyfriends, with Chris Evans’ Lucas Lee perhaps being featured most prominently. His role in the preview is perhaps the best of the whole trailer, as asks Ramona “‘sup? How’s life? He seems nice.” shortly after whipping her boyfriend against a building and fist pumping and yelling “boom!” I feel like I leveled up just watching it.
My only question remains Michael Cera, who I like but have always been uncertain if he had the ability to bring Scott’s cockiness to the equation. That remains to be seen.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World enters the arena August 13th of this year. Don’t miss it.
