Dark Horse had sent out several teasers announcing that they would be announcing something with three names attached: Cast, Morello, and del Toro. While del Toro’s involvement was revealed early yesterday, the other two were not until last night at the Dark Horse booth when they revealed three new titles (including the already announced Strain comic book).
The first new series will be Orchid, written by Tom Morello and illustrated Scott Hepburn. Morello describes being brought to Dark Horse by none other than Gerard Way, and describes the book’s main character as “a 16 year old prostitute that becomes the Spartacus of whores.” Morello also cites the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Dune, and the Stand as inspiration.
The next book will be House Of Night, which is a “new Zoey Bird story” from P.C. Cast. The book will be written by KenT Dalian and illustrate dby Joelle Jones “and others.” The comic takes place within the book series House of Night’s continuity, and it takes place “between scenes from Betrayed”, the second book of the series. It finds the heroine battling against an elite student group known as the Dark Daughters, and will be – according to Bleeding Cool, at least – some kind of mix of Twilight and Harry Potter.
The last series is, as we learned, three eight-issue minis comprising the three parts of the Strain trilogy, written by David Lapham and illustrated by Mike Huddleston. For more information, check yesterday’s announcement here.
All of these books are set to kick off in November. For two additional images, courtesy of Bleeding Cool, check behind the cut.
