Announced at the Creator Owned panel at SDCC, Howard Chaykin will be creating a sequel to his controversial 12-issue Black Kiss series. In 2012, Chaykin will be releasing a 6-issue prequel mini through Image comics.
When it was originally released, the book was wrapped in black plastic bags due to the world of sex and violence within the pages. That was 1988, though. It’s 2011 now, and I’m sure everyone has read the Rise of Arsenal by now. It’s with that in mind that Chaykin notes in an interview with CBR that he is excited to try and deliver material that will appall and disgust a modern generation. “I’m lowering the bar here. I want to be staring up from the gutters wondering about the stars.” It will be interesting to see if Chaykin can do in 2011 what he did in 1988.
