At this year’s Next Big Thing panel at SDCC, Marvel announced two new books: Avengers Origins and Villains For Hire.

Avengers Origins will be a series of one-shots fleshing out the heroes of the Avengers. It will feature the Ant-Man and Wasp by Roberto Aguire Sacasa and Stephanie Hans, Luke Cage by Mike Benson, Adam Glass and Dalibor Talajic, The Vision by Kyle Higgins, Alec Siegel and Stephane Perger, Quicksilver And The Scarlet Witch by Sean McKeever, and Thor by Kathryn Immonen.

Villains for Hire will be a new ongoing by Heroes for Hire scribes Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. It’ll be a monthly ongoing starting in November, and will star Misty Knight gathering up a team of villains for a “secret project.” No news on what this means for Heroes for Hire, though.

Additionally, Marvel announced the next arc for Black Panther will feature the Kingpin and Lady Bullseye with artist Shawn Martinborough, the next Hulk arc will be Hulk of Arabia featuring Patrick Zircher on art and a new villain, and the next Deadpool arc will be called “Evil Deadpool”, in which severed Deadpool limbs form into an unrepentant killer.

It was also revealed that the Twelve #9 is tentatively scheduled for February 2012.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
