It’s fairly traditional for most of the big name Vertigo titles to run 60 issues: Y The Last Man, Transmetropolitan, Preacher, and the Invisibles (just about) have all made tremendous stamps on the comic book medium and had 60 issue runs. Now Multiversity favorite Scalped enters those hallowed halls this April.

Announced during Thursday’s Vertigo panel at Comic-Con, Karen Berger confirmed that Aaron and Guera would bring the story of Dashiell Bad Horse and the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation to a close. With issue #50 being released at the tail end of last month, it’s quite apparent that Aaron was leaning towards the end of the series as one of the bigger ongoing plotlines – a mystery that the readers knew the answer to but not the characters – came to a rather violent head. Issue #50 set up the various characters for what is to come, and now Aaron and Guera are set to bring the power house of a series to a close.

Scalped marks the third Vertigo book ending now, with DMZ and Northlanders in their final arcs as of now, set to end in December and March respectively.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
