SDCC 2016: Garth Ennis To Write “Wacky Raceland” Spinoff Series

DC’s Hanna-Barbera is getting it’s first spinoff series courtesy of prolific writer Garth Ennis.

Announced at the DC Comics Press Breakfast, Garth Ennis (“The Boys”)  will write a new spinoff series of “Wacky Raceland” focusing on Dick Dastardly and Muttley. Little is known about the series. In fact, it doesn’t have an artist or release date as of yet.

“Wacky Raceland” is a “mature” reimagining of the animated series Wacky Races. In the first issue, we were introduced to a post apocalyptic world where racing is the only thing that can potentially save you. Dastardly was reimagined as some kind of mashup between Lobo and Jack Sparrow while Muttley is a rabid dog who has to be chained up.

In all honesty, I’m glad DC is finding success with this line of books that they can do a spin offs series but “Wacky Raceland” is the biggest mess of the launch. It would have been great to see “Future Quest” get a companion series given how big the cast of that book is.
