Matz and Luc Jacamon are two of the most renowned creators in the world today thanks to their work on books like The Killer, as their titles that earned them praise in France and beyond have started making their way to America thanks to Archaia Comics. Now, their acclaimed graphic novel Cyclops will be released as a mini-series in America in the spring of 2011 by Archaia, as announced at San Diego Comic Con.

This title will follow a character named Douglas Pistoia fifty years in the future, as he finds himself a soldier in a privatized war that doubles as reality television thanks to cameras fitted to each soldier. Pistoia finds himself successful at this, but this success is a double edged sword that leads him to begin questioning his humanity. Thematically, Matz looks at both “the privatization of war and the evolution of the entertainment industry as reality TV continues to progress into stranger and more unusual territory” as noted by CBR, as well as the more personalized, human costs associated with war.

This book drew rave reviews on initial release in 2006 and was optioned in 2008 to be turned into a film with James Mangold attached to direct. Don’t miss this release, as it will assuredly be a stunner (and don’t forget to catch CBR’s interview with Matz about it as well).
