I know what you’re thinking. “Ugh. Not another title to keep up with.” Well, don’t worry. I’m here to say that what you’re about to hear about is quite a treat. Marvel has announced that, with people finally liking Tony Stark again after the events of Civil War, Invincible Iron Man winning an Eisner, and the Iron Man 2 movie right around the corner, it’s time to bring out a brand new book!
That’s right – coming in 2010 we’ve got Iron Man Legacy, a brand new Iron Man ongoing title written by MC-favorite Fred Van Lente and illustrated by Steve Kurth, who is currently kicking ass at Ultimate Comics Armor Wars. The book will largely function as a companion piece, much in the way that Astonishing X-Men is the companion to Uncanny X-Men, and will feature stories that are canon to Iron Man’s character, but also are completely stand-alone arcs that could happen at any time.
For more on the the new book, check out IGN.com for an exciting interview with Fred Van Lente by clicking here. What do you think, readers? Will you be picking this up? I believe that this will most definitely be worth a look. Van Lente is a very entertaining writer, kicking ass in Amazing Spider-Man and Incredible Hercules, and as I mentioned, Steve Kurth is absolutely killing it with drawing Iron Man already in the Ultimate Universe. It seems like a good match-up to me, and I’ll be definitely grabbing the first issue of this.
