“Secret Weapons” was one of Valiant’s most successful limited series of recent memory, and brought into the fold writer Eric Heisserer, the Academy Award nominated screenwriter of Arrival. Heisserer has quickly established himself at the publisher, and continues to expand upon the ideas presented in “Secret Weapons.” We can exclusively reveal another Heisserer Valiant project: a new “Secret Weapons” one shot, this time starring Owen Cho.
Heisserer teams with his “Secret Weapons” cohorts Raul Allen and Patricia Martin to tell Owen’s story in a truly unique way. Told exclusively through ‘double page spreads and short stories,’ the issue is constructed of the origins of various items that Cho conjured, yet ties together in a narrative, threading all the various items into one cohesive story. It sounds ambitious, exciting and unique, and should tide fans over until the same team reunites for “Harbinger Wars 2” this summer.
This issue is not to be confused with Heisserer’s other “Secret Weapons” #0, where he and Adam Pollina tell the story of a year in Nikki Finch’s life, told ‘week by week, panel by panel.’ How exactly these two stories will read is anyone’s guess, but the stylistic chances being taken are admirable.
“Secret Weapons: Owen’s Story” #0 is due out in March, but we’ve got the solicit information, four covers, and a press release to share with you.
