Following yesterday’s announcement that Greg Rucka will be leaving “Wonder Woman” with issue #25, DC has wasted no time finding his replacement, announcing today that “DC Super Hero Girls” writer Shea Fontana will take over in July.

Beginning with July’s #26, Fontana will pen a five-issue arc that will introduce a new villain to the DC Universe.

“Having worked on DC Super Hero Girls for the last few years, I have a great sense of Wondy, a teenage Wonder Woman in a high school setting, and it’s an honor and an adrenaline rush to be writing her now ‘all grown up,'” Fontana said in a statement from the publisher. “Many of her core characteristics continue to remain routed in peace, justice and equality, but as an adult she’s seen a lot more war and tragedy, and is dealing with her world from a wiser, more experienced point of view.”

Art, at least for the first two issues, will be from “DC Comics: Bombshells” artist Mirka Andolfo. Current artist, illustrating the present-day arcs, Liam Sharp, also announced his departure yesterday, but like Rucka, teased that his next project is still at DC, and he “wouldn’t be straying too far.” It is unclear if Bilquis Evely, the artist on the current “Godwatch” arc will stay on and join Andolfo.

Fontana and Andolfo kick off their run with #26 out on July 12 and #27 following it July 26.
