We have a movie round-up that comes out tomorrow, but this news is pretty big for us here at MC so I thought I’d reveal it now. Splash Page at MTV has an exclusive with the director of Green Lantern, and during this discussion Martin Campbell revealed who is in talks to play Sinestro, as well as more.

So do you wish to know? Are you curious as to who is going to be Ryan Reynolds’ greatest friend and mentor…as well as his greatest foe?

Click behind the cut for the reveal.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…

MARK STRONG!

A tremendous actor, you might recognize him as Lord Blackwood from the recent Sherlock Holmes film, or perhaps you know him as Pinbacker from Danny Boyle’s awesome science fiction film Sunshine. You also might have seen him in Matthew Vaughan’s Stardust, and you can look forward to him in Matthew Vaughan’s Kick-Ass as the central villain.

“In fact, we’re in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro.”

“He’s not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro,” he added. “If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he’s very like him. The Jackie Earle Haley thing, somebody told me about it this morning; I had never heard it before in my life.”

That’s not all that was revealed though. Do you want to know who else will be appearing in the film?

“Well, Kilowog will be,” said Campebll. “Tomar-Re is in it. Sinestro is in it. Abin Sur is in it. All the origin people. Carol [Ferris], of course, who will be played by Blake Lively. All the main characters are there, and it’s a complex story. The origin story of Green Lantern is complex, probably one of the most complex, which makes it a challenge to get it right.”

O.M.F.G.

In all honesty, with the dedication being but to this movie so far, this could possibly be one of the best comic book adaptations of all time. While I’m not going so far as to say that people will like it more than the Dark Knight, it’s looking that us comic nerds will like may love it more than Dark Knight. Or at least, I definitely will. They should get Michael Madsen to do the voice of Kilowog like in the animated film. That’d be awesome.

So there you have it. Even more reason to get excited about this film.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
