Skybound and Image Comics are joining forces with South Korean game developer Com2uS for the new comic “Summoners War: Legacy.” Announced during the “Skybound X Summoners War” panel at Skybound Xpo, the new series is based on the Summoners War franchise that began with Summoners War: Sky Arena in 2014.

“Summoners War: Legacy,” featuring writing from Justin Jordan, art by Luca Claretti, coloring by Giovanna Niro, and lettering by Deron Bennett, takes place 35 years before the onset of the titular war at the center of the mobile game. The prequel series promises to bring new context to the characters and monsters in the mystical land of Alea.

John Nam, VP of IP Strategy at Com2us, said, “Summoners War is one of the world’s top mobile games thanks to its rabid fanbase, roaring esports community and a rich in-game universe, so we’re expanding the IP into new frontiers by partnering with Skybound Entertainment on our first official comic book series, ‘Summoners War: Legacy.’ Our friends at Skybound are a powerhouse of imagination and a perfect partner for helping Com2uS grow Summoners War in new directions.”

Fans who pre-order now will receive a “Con Exclusive” version of “Summoners War: Legacy” #1 for $10 USD, a special gold-foil issue that also comes with a redeemable in-game reward voucher for 200 Gems and three Scrolls. The larger “Summoners War: Legacy” comic series will be released in the future. The con exclusive is available for pre-order here.
