Smash Press Release
Creators Chris A. Bolton and Kyle Bolton have announced their highly acclaimed webcomic SMASH will begin its long-awaited second season on Thursday, August 25th, 2011, at SmashComic.com.
Geared toward all ages, the comic series follows the adventures of a 10-year-old boy who accidentally gains the powers of his superhero idol — and also inherits his deadliest villain, the Magus!
Currently, SmashComic.com is reposting the first season in its entirety, a new page each day, counting down to the unveiling of Season 2. For the second season, a new comic will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday. The comics are free and all content is safe for younger readers.
Picking up where Season 1 left off, the second season follows 10-year-old superhero Smash undergoing training with a retired crimefighter, as well as the continuing machinations of the Magus, the introduction of jaw-dropping new villains, new supporting characters, and much more!
SMASH debuted in summer 2008 to enthusiastic reader response. Combining equal doses of humor and adventure, SMASH has been hailed as “loose-limbed, gleefully frenetic” (Fleen), “a cut above the rest” (School Library Journal), and “truly wonderful” (Multiversity Comics). The first season has been signed for publication by Candlewick Press, publisher of the modern classic The Tale of Despereaux, along with many other great kids’ books. The book is currently in the editing stage.
Like many 10-year-old boys, Andrew Ryan is short, lacking in athletic and social skills, and daydreams about being a superhero. Unlike other boys, however, Andrew’s dream actually comes true when he gains super powers and becomes the costumed crimefighter known as Smash! In the course of his adventures, he discovers how difficult it really is to finish your homework, keep your room clean, and sneak out after curfew to fight crime!
Originally presenting their comics in 10- to 12-page episodes via a pop-up Lightbox format that was singled out by comics legend Scott McCloud, the Bolton brothers have redesigned their website to a page-a-day ComicPress format that is friendlier to all browsers and mobile viewers.
