Snoopy the Flying Ace is going to space in a new original graphic novel from BOOM! Studios’ imprint kaBOOM!, in partnership with Peanuts Worldwide. “Snoopy: A Beagle of Mars,” written by Jason Cooper, illustrated by Robert Pope, and colored by Hannah White, sees the beagle embarking on an exploratory mission to Mars. It is available in print and digitally this December 2019.
Snoopy, the world-famous astronaut, heads to the stars in his most out-of-this-world adventure yet! What mysteries does the red planet hold? Will he find water? Will he find life? Will he find the time to get in a quick nine holes? Snoopy grabs his golf clubs and blasts off for Mars in this original graphic novel from the world of Charles M. Schulz and “Peanuts!”
“All systems are go in a Snoopy adventure unlike anything you’ve ever read before, introducing everyone’s favorite beagle to the wonders of outer space as he journeys to Mars,” said Chris Rosa, Editor at BOOM! Studios. “The Schulz Studio team has crafted a wonderfully fun and humorous tale so whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, this is the kind of story that reminds you why ‘Peanuts’ has such an unparalleled place in pop culture.”
BOOM! points out that this isn’t the first time the famous character created by Charles M. Schultz has explored our Solar System: the 1969 Apollo 10 mission traveled to the Moon aided by lunar module Snoopy and command module Charlie Brown. Around the same time, NASA also developed the Silver Snoopy Awards, given by astronauts to employees and contractors for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success. Fifty years later, Peanuts Worldwide and NASA’s collaboration continues through the Space Act Agreement, the goal of which is to help inspire a passion for space exploration and STEM education in students.
