Marvel solicits have come out, and with it some VERY brief teases on what Age Of X will be.
So what do we know? Mike Carey is writing it, and we still have no clue who is arting (although this does give a pretty big clue as to which X-book you should be following for the event). The covers will be done by Chris Bachalo (or at least, the first one) and the variants will be done by Olivier Copiel. All we know for plot is the solicit: “Mutantkind’s final war starts here. If you don’t know which side you’re on, check your DNA.” So it’s rather ominous.
Two points of note though: 1) the price tag is $3.99, so Marvel’s previous allusions that they would be dropping the $3.99 price point as well isn’t really proven here (as a ctrl+f of the solicits page on Newsarama reveals 54 finds), and 2) if the two sides of this war are to be understood as “human vs mutant” … well, is this not what Second Coming was sort of bringing to a close? The biggest human opposition is gone, and Cyclops has been given a medal of honor from the president. So… who is coming to screw things up for the Mutants?
Or… is it possible that the Mutants are pushing their agenda on others, considering the title is “Age of X”? Only time will tell.
