Over the span of this week, Stuart Immonen has slowly been revealing an image on the website he shares with his wife, maison immonen. From the panels that have been filled in so far, we can tell that the final image will most likely be someone kissing someone else, but who?

Anyone who has been reading Dan Slott’s “Amazing Spider-Man” run can tell you that there have been more and more hints at Peter Parker’s reunion with Mary Jane, and that it was directly addressed by Doc Ock while he inhabited Peter’s body in issue #698. Much of the image is still obscured, but I can’t help but shake the feeling that the hairline that we see in this teaser, generic as it may be, is Romita-influenced (I also can’t shake the feeling that I’ve seen that scarf in some iconic Spider-Man panel, but that could just be me being crazy). Something as minor as brown hair that looks somewhat familiar is hardly something to get excited about, but… well, what else could Stuart have to hide?
It is also worth mentioning that when clicking the images on the Immonens’ webpage, one is redirected to various Christmas-related sites. It seems unlikely that this is solely because everyone’s favorite comic-creating couple is excited for the holidays: at 4×6 panels, or 24 total, this is a countdown similar to an Advent Calendar. What comic comes out the week of Christmas — in fact, the day after? “Amazing Spider-Man” #700. And a few others, but that’s besides the point.
It is very possible, though, that I am blindly grasping at straws. Who do you think is getting a Christmas smooch?
