Well, it has arrived. Debuting first on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the world premiere of the first trailer for upcoming Marvel film Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as The Vulture and Zendaya as Michele Maybe Mary Jane. Check it out:
There is quite a bit we can grasp this: we get a first look at the Vulture’s outfit, which is very Metal Gear Solid 4-Era Hideo Kojima but without the misogyny. We get the confirmation that, yeah, this is how Tony Stark would probably be like as a father. It is also full confirmation that the movie will skip the origin, thank goodness. But the big one that popped out to me was the character Jacob Batalon is playing: Ned Leeds. Except, going from this trailer, that’s not Ned Leeds. That’s Ganke Lee. Like, really. That is Ganke Lee, the best friend and confidant of Miles Morales (down to him owning a LEGO Death Star that tragically meets its end in this trailer) and they transplanted him into Peter Parker’s supporting cast and just slapped Ned Leed’s name on him. I’m sure that isn’t going to annoy people who really wished that this movie would be Miles instead. Not at all.
Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters July 7, 2017.
