Stanley Tucci Joins Captain America

Did you see a movie called The Lovely Bones last year? It was a pretty terrible movie for those that had read the book (or so I’m told), but you might remember quite a stand out performance by Stanley Tucci. He was arguably the only part of that movie worth watching, and I bring it up because he was nominated for an Academy Award. Now Tucci joins what is slowly becoming one of the most sunning casts ever in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Marvel Studios announced today that Tucci would be playing the role of Dr. Abraham Erskine. Any good comic book fan will know that name as the name of the man who invented the Super Soldier Formula which Cap took to become … well, Cap. Although his story is ultimately cut short, he is one of the most important characters to the story, and is a great pick for the role.

Tucci joins a cast made up of Chris Evans (Captain America), Hugo Weaving (The Red Skull), Toby Jones (Arnim Zola), Tommy Lee Jones (General Phillips), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), Dominic Cooper (Young Howard Stark), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
