It’s so hot being cosmic right now. Announced today via a press release, Marvel has unveiled the next in their line of original graphic novels: “Thanos: The Infinity Relativity”, written and illustrated by Jim Starlin.
The second of a trilogy (the first being “The Infinity Revelation”), the book will follow the newly returned Adam Warlock as he reassembles the Infinity Watch and they come into conflict with Annihilus resurgent. Sounding like what Starlin would do if he had written “Annihilation: Conquest,” the book will find Adam Warlock returning to where he left Thanos in “Infinity Revelation” so they can team-up and be best friends forever take down Annihilus together.
However, given that this book once again features Starlin’s “Infinity” branding that has been prevalent to all his major cosmic works, I would imagine that there is something else lurking at the seams of this trilogy as well — and given that Marvel has indicated in the past that everything that happens in these books is considered absolute canon to the Marvel Universe, it reflects rather interestingly on what else is currently going on in the Cosmic Marvel U. While “The Infinity Revelation” was great for fans of Starlin’s work, it seemed a bit abstract to the layman, which itself is a bit of a hindrance in the overall enjoyment of the comic experience.
Still, having Starlin back in Cosmic Comics is great if you’re into Starling Cosmic Comics, which I happen to be. So lucky me, I guess. Hopefully lucky you, too.
