Static Shock Getting His Own DE-POWERED Book

Did any of you read the last issue of Felicia Henderson’s Teen Titans run? Yes? No? Well, here’s what you might have missed: Aquagirl and Bombshell are missing, Raven still can’t speak in complete sentences, Miss Martian is in critical condition… oh, and Static Shock – after being a super powered savior to his teammates – is de-powered.

Yes, you read that right – Static Shock is no more. Hope you guys like Virgil Hawkins.

And I guess now would be the time that MC notices something announced last month: Static Shock is getting his own book. Of course, we know what some of the originally “classified” information about the book is now.

At the end of the story, Static is asked to go with Dr. Barnes and Cyborg to Cadmus Labs accompanying Miss Martian. It is implied that there is a mysterious connection between Barnes and Static, and it even gives a slight hint that it could be parental with a reference to Superboy and Cadmus made as well. As she said at CBR, “I think we can expect to see Static back in Dakota, but not right away. He has quite a journey ahead of him before he gets back to his hometown. Cyborg, Dr. Rochelle Barnes and Superboy will all play a part in how Static comes into his own.”

Look for the book in 2011. I don’t like to put editorial bias into news, but I will say this – poor Virgil Hawkins.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
