Marvel have announced a new “Dazzler” series will be among the ‘X-Men: From the Ashes’ series launching this fall, alongside the previously announced “Storm” solo series.

– “Dazzler” (starting September 18), will be a four-issue series by writer Jason Loo (“Sentry,” “The All-Nighter”) and artist Rafael Loureiro (“Unikorn,” “The Mall,” making his Marvel debut.) The comic will see Alison Blaire embark on a world tour, accompanied by Domino, Strong Guy, Multiple Man, Shark Girl, and Wind Dancer, who’ll help protect her from anti-mutant terrorists emboldened by Krakoa’s destruction.

Loo says Ali’s “facing tons of pressure from all sorts of people trying to cancel her shows. But she’s not going down without a fight.” Each issue will also include all-new song lyrics from the character’s notebook, some of which Loo jokes “may be about her exes.” It will mark Dazzler’s first series since the 1981-1986 run, and will arrive (rather ironically) after her animated ’90s counterpart was killed off in the first season of X-Men ’97.

– “Storm” (October 2), written by Murewa Ayodele (“Akogun: Brutalizer of Gods,” “I Am Iron Man”) with art by Lucas Werneck (“Immortal X-Men”). The series will find Ororo Munroe now based out of a Sanctuary in Atlanta, when she’s called into action against a meltdown at a nuclear facility in Oklahoma City, which in turn draws her “into a moral conflict that will test her iron resolve!” It will mark Ororo’s second solo ongoing, following Greg Pak, Victor Ibanez, Al Barrionuevo et al.’s 2014-2015 series.

Ayodele comments, “I would like to assure the audience that Storm is in danger. Extremely so. We love Ororo Munroe, and that is why we have crafted a thrilling story that will put the strength of her character on wide-open display.” He explains he is giving her challenges to reflect her Omega-level mutant status, “that will shake the universe from Planet Earth to the Dimension of Manifestations [the abstract realm introduced in Mark Gruenwald and Greg Capullo’s ‘Quasar’ run]. We are crafting stories filled to the brim with humanity, love, mystery, adventure, heartbreak, and all-out action.”

In the meantime, Marvel revealed Storm will be joining the Avengers’ line-up in this summer’s issue #17. The comic, which will mark the debut of new series artist Valerio Schiti, will see one of Earth’s Mightiest approach Ororo to join the team after realizing how badly the team needs a mutant’s perspective in the wake of Krakoa’s fall. This will mark her second time on the team, following Brian Michael Bendis and co.’s run in 2012. “Avengers” #17 will be released on August 7, after writer Jed MacKay also relaunches the main “X-Men” series on July 10.
