At Entertainment Weekly, Dark Horse have announced they will publishing a line of comics based on the Netflix series Stranger Things, starting with a four-issue miniseries launching this September.

Stranger Things, which began in 2016, tells the story of a group of kids living in a small town in Indiana during the ’80s, and their adventures following a couple of escapes at a nearby government facility studying an entrance into a terrifying alternate dimension, known only as the Upside Down.

During the first season, one of the kids, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), is kidnapped by one of the Upside Down’s denizens: this first series, written by Jody Houser (“Faith,” “Batgirl”), pencilled by Stefano Martino (“Angel: After the Fall”), inked by Keith Champagne (“Superman”), colored by Lauren Affe (“Rebels”), and lettered by Nate Piekos (“Atland”), will show how Will survived in the Upside Down before his rescue.

Mike Richardson, President of Dark Horse Comics, stated “Dark Horse is known for championing stories and storytellers. We are so excited to work with Netflix to bring the world of Stranger Things to comics.”

“Stranger Things” #1 will be released on September 26. Between this line of comic books, the recent deal with Penguin Random House for a series of prose books, and the announcement of a Telltale video game, there should be plenty of Stranger Things material to keep fans sated before the release of season 3 next year.

Until then, fans should hit the link for a preview of the first issue, as well as variant covers by series promotional artist Kyle Lambert, and Rafael Albuquerque (“American Vampire”).
