IDW Publishing announced two new Dungeons & Dragons series today at the official D&D Live event, the first being a crossover with Dark Horse Comics’ Stranger Things line, “Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons.”

Little was said about the plot of the four-issue series, which starts in November, or when it takes place, but if the cover is any indication, it will portray how Will, Mike, Lucas and Dustin imagine themselves during their tabletop sessions, with Mike as a knight, Lucas as a ranger, Dustin as a bard, and Will as warlock Will the Wise.

It will be written by Jody Houser and Jim Zub (who are both veterans of the respective titular comics series), and illustrated by artist Diego Galindo (“Dresden Files: Dog Men”), colorist Michele Assarasakorn (“Isola”), and lettered by Nate Piekos (of previous “Stranger Things” titles). Zub said on his blog that the series will show “how Dungeons & Dragons has defined and strengthened the friendships” in the Netflix series, and to expect “adventure, heart and a few supernatural surprises.”

IDW’s second announcement was for “Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World,” which will be written by actress Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer) and author/former wrestler A.J. Mendez, with art by Martin Coccolo and colorist Mae Hao (“Rising Sun”). A description of the series’ plot was not given either, although Garcia shared the protagonist’s name is Runa. The first issue will be released October 21, 2020.
