One of our absolute favorite books, “the Stuff of Legend”, has been picked up by Disney, according to a Deadline report.
For those not aware of the book, “The Stuff of Legend” stars a group of toys who cross into the realm of the Dark (located in a closet) which is run by the nightmarish Boogie Man, who has kidnapped their owner for nefarious purposes. Set in 1944, the all-ages title stars the wonderfully ecclectic cast of a Jester, a toy bear, a wooden duck and more (pictured above) in an epic Tolkein-esque trek across the Dark to save the boy and return him to his home in our world.
With a script by Shawn Christensen and Pete Candeland attached to direct, known for his work directing music videos for the Gorillaz, the plan is to make a live-action/CGI film akin to Alice in Wonderland starring the band of toy brothers on their mission to save their owner from the Dark.
There are three “Stuff of Legend” volumes available in stores now (with an omnibus containing the first two volumes on the way) for you to pick-up before they’re covered with “Now a Major Motion Picture!” banners, and congratulations to Mike Raicht, Brian Smith and Charles Paul Wilson III!
