Suicide Squad’s New Writer Is Not Who You’d Expect It To Be

I have to admit, “Suicide Squad” has never been a title that commanded my attention. I could never quite put my finger on why, it just didn’t grab me. Until IGN announced that with the series’ 20th issue, Ales Kot will be the series’ new writer along with Timothy Green II on art.

Yeah, that’ll do it.

If you’ve been with the site long enough, you should hopefully be familiar with Kot: he’s currently writing the stellar “Change” mini-series for Image and his opening salvo into the comics world with the graphic novel “Wild Children” had the same life changing feel about it as Grant Morrison’s “The Invisibles” did way back when.

Okay, so I love Ales and now I’m really excited for this book, especially after seeing Green’s artwork in “Animal Man” during the Rotworld event. Not much was revealed about the new team’s plan for the book other than that Amanda Waller will be bringing some new members to the team.

Expect to find out more about the title in DC’s May solicitations.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
