Mark Andrew Smith, the MC Favorite writer of “Gladstone’s School for World Conquerors.” James Stokoe, the MC Favorite artist of “Orc Stain.” The two have been working together on a book since 2009 entitled “Sullivan’s Sluggers,” but due to various circumstances it has been largely delayed beyond its original release date.

Last night, Smith tweeted the above image, noting that it was the last page of art for this 190 page graphic novel and that Stokoe’s work had finally wrapped up, with all that is left to do being the coloring and lettering (and general graphic novel assembly). Can we get a resounding “HELL YEAH!”?

When we spoke to Smith earlier this year, he described the book to us as “a horror book about a baseball team that stumbles into a town filled with flesh hungry monsters. The team have to use all of their baseball skills and tricks to survive the night.” If that doesn’t get you amped up for what is assumedly going to be one of our top graphic novels of the year, we’re not quite sure what will.

We’ll update you more on all information about the book as we get it, but look for a release date for sometime later this year from Image Comics.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
