Well this is certainly an excellent turn of events: it appears Mark Andrew Smith and James Stokoe’s “Sullivan’s Sluggers,” a comic that currently isn’t even out yet and is only available for those who contribute to a Kickstarter campaign, has been optioned for a feature film according to a report from Heat Vision.

The Kickstarter currently has nearly $50,000 in donations from a $6,000 goal with almost 1500 backers. It seeing success elsewhere? Not a big surprise. The film has been optioned by Todd Garner (producer of numerous Happy Madison productions) of Broken Road Production as well as Adam Herz (writer and producer of the American Pie films) and Joshua Shader of Terra Firma Films for the adaptation, with Tom and Tim Mullen hired for the script. The film will also be co-produced by Oric Scott De Lass Casas and Sean Robins.

It should be an interesting production, to say the least, especially when it comes to translating Stokoe’s hyper-detailed art to the big screen. Never the less, congrats once again go to Smith and Stokoe and the absolute smash success that is “Sullivan’s Sluggers.”

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
