After teasing it in today’s “Infinite Frontier” announcement, DC Comics have announced writer Tom King (“Mister Miracle,” “Batman”), artist Bilquis Evely (“The Dreaming, “Wonder Woman”), and colorist Mat Lopes (“The Dreaming,” “The Electric Sublime”) will be taking Kara Zor-El on an interstellar odyssey in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” an eight-issue miniseries debuting this summer.

Supergirl will be urged on by a newfound sense of disenfranchisement at her purposelessness under Superman’s shadow. It’s then that she’s found by an alien girl with a familiar plight, her home planet destroyed and the culprits unpunished. Spurred on to help in this revenge quest, Kara ventures into a cosmos of moral gray. She won’t be alone however, as Krypto the Superdog will join her on this spacefaring journey.

The series will launch in June as a part of DC’s new ‘Infinite Frontier’ publishing line. It follows the 42-issue ‘Rebirth’ “Supergirl” series by Steve Orlando, Brian Ching, Mark Andreyko, Becky Cloonan, Kevin Maguire and Robert Venditti, among many others, which ended in June 2020. This will be the first collaboration between King and Evely, but builds on the long-founded art/coloring partnership between her and Lopes.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” #1 releases on June 15 for US$4.99, with a cover by Bilquis Evely.
