Marvel Comics has announced a new series in which Otto Octavius will return as the Superior Spider-Man. The new series will see Octavius put aside the Doctor Octopus moniker once again as he attempts to prove himself as the Marvel Universe’s greatest hero. The series will be written by “Amazing Spider-Man” veteran Christos Gage and illustrated by former “Deadpool” artist Mike Hawthorne.

COVER BY TRAVIS CHARESTOtto Octavius leaves the moniker of Doctor Octopus behind and once again becomes THE SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN! If you think you’ve already read the most intense and surprisingly heartbreaking Superior Spider-Man story, prepare to be wrong. Otto is going to prove to the world that he’s the most effective and (to him at least) the best superhero in the world. But when a villain that overpowers him by so much shows up in San Francisco, there’s no way Ock can win, right? Can you see Otto smirking from where you’re reading this?
The new series will begin in December, marking six years since Otto Octavius first adopted the Spider-Man moniker in 2012 after switching bodies with Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man.” The original “Superior Spider-Man” series ran for 31 issues (and briefly resumed for two ‘Spider-Verse’ tie-ins in 2014). After Peter regained control of his body, Octavius took control of a clone of Peter’s body and became the Superior Octopus.
Before “The Superior Spider-Man” relaunches, there will be a one-shot featuring Otto as the Superior Octopus this October. The issue will be a ‘Spider-Geddon’ tie-in and will follow Octavius’s superhero exploits in San Francisco. The issue will also be written and drawn by Christos Gage and Mike Hawthorne.
