At New York Comic Con, DC have revealed their plans for the Superman family of titles in January 2023, including a relaunch of “Superman,” and a new Jon Kent miniseries, “Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent.” But first, it was announced, beginning with January 24’s issue #1501, “Action Comics” will feature three segments:

– The continuing adventures of Clark Kent, written by Philip Kennedy Johnson with art by Rafa Sandoval. As previously announced, the post-‘Warworld Saga’ arc will see Clark and Steel battle a newly incarcerated Lex Luthor, and Metallo, for the future of Metropolis.

– ‘Lois and Clark 2: Doom Rising,’ by Dan Jurgens and Lee Weeks, will continue to revisit the adventures of young Jon Kent, and his battles with Doombreaker, the villain being introduced in November’s “Death Of Superman: 30th Anniversary Special.”

– A ‘Lazarus Planet‘ tie-in starring Power Girl, written by Leah Williams (in her DC debut) with art by Marguerite Sauvage. This will run for three issues.

The “Superman” solo series will relaunch with Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell at the helm in February, and feature Clark Kent once again in the title role. According to Williamson, the series will also feature Nick Dragotta on art, and “take Clark Kent on a fun, pulp style adventure in Metropolis against his greatest villains.”

Lastly, “Superman: Son of Kal-El” writer Tom Taylor and artist Clayton Henry will continue the present day Jon Kent’s story in the six-issue “Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent,” which will see Jon face off against Ultraman, the evil Earth 3 Kal-Il responsible for stealing his childhood. Val-Zod, the Black Superman of Earth 2, will also co-star in the series, which kicks off in March. “Superman: Son of Kal-El” will conclude in the meantime with issue #18 in December. (To wit, titles being added on Monday, October 10, will include “Black Adam” #1-4, “Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths” #1-4, and “Poison Ivy” #1-4.) Subscribers will also receive an expanded catalog of Vertigo and Black Label titles from mid-November.

The tier launches Monday, and will be available for a special limited time price of $99.99 USD a year in the US (and equivalent prices in other countries) until November 28. For more, including details on exclusive comics for Ultra subscribers, go to DC.com. DC Universe Infinite also announced expanded access to original graphic novels, and over a hundred issues of MAD Magazine, for all subscribers.
