Announced this morning on DC’s Source blog, it looks like Superman Beyond will be returning to Earth for a story come August. Originally seen in Superman/Batman Annual #4, super old Kal-El left Earth to search through the stars for greater meaning. Now, in a story apparently spinning out of Batman Beyond, Superman will be returning to Earth to “stop a villain more powerful than he’s ever faced – all while his own super powers are starting to fade.”

The one shot will be written by Tom Defalco, will illustrations by Ron Frenz and Sal Buscema. It’ll also feature the Dustin Nguyen cover pictured above.

Look for the issue in August.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
