DC Black Label have announced a three-part series, “Superman vs. Lobo,” from the creative combination of writers Tim Seeley and Sarah Beattie (“Money Shot”), artist Mirka Andolfo (“Mercy”), and colorist Arif Prianto (“Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade”).

The series will see “the last sons of Krypton and Czarnia respectively” clashing and causing widespread damage, attracting the attention of people across the universe. One of the individuals most bothered by Superman and Lobo stealing the spotlight will be a god called Numen, who usually dominates social media. In addition to Numen, there will be a scientist desperate to study the fighting pair, called Dr. Flik.

This is the second series to prominently feature Lobo announced this year, with “Crush & Lobo,” following the adventures of the daughter and father duo in the main DC continuity, set to release in June. Seeley tweeted that this series will be a “totally gory, twisted, demented romp.”

“Superman vs. Lobo” #1 is scheduled for release in comic shops and via digital platforms on August 24. The series will be released in the publisher’s Prestige Plus format, with the first issue featuring a main cover by Andolfo. There will also be standard card stock variant covers by Simon Bisley and Tony Harris as well as a 1:25 card stock variant featuring artwork by Phillip Tan.
