Next month, Scout Comics’ horror imprint Black Caravan will release “Swamp Dogs: House of Crows” #1, the first in a five-part zombie comic by writers J.M. Brandt and Theo Prasidis, and artist Kewber Baal, that’s described as an homage to the grindhouse cinema of the ’70s and ’80s. We can reveal an exclusive first look at the variant cover for the issue by James Edward Clark, which will be sold solely at New Jersey’s Little Shop of Comics:

Written by J.M. Brandt, Theo Prasidis
Art by Kewber Baal
Colored by Ruth Redmond

They came from the swamp… the scummiest squad of Confederate soldiers, brought back to life by powerful Voodoo magic. They crave power, carnage, and female flesh! They are the Swamp Dogs! Now, young lovers Ayana and Violet, and their friends from the goofy stoner metal band The Grunch, will unknowingly fall into their ghoulish nest. Bear witness to a rollicking gorefest straight out of the shocking grindhouse and revengeful blaxploitation of the 1970s, and the cult horror classics of the 1980s… with a modern twist.

Thanks to Brandt for providing the cover, which he describes as “a tribute to classic Blaxploitation movie posters.” There will be 250 copies with the trade dress (with company logos, credits etc.), and 100 virgin copies, that won’t include those. Be sure to pick up a copy of “Swamp Dogs: House of Crows” #1 when it releases on October 13, and in the meantime, check out the other covers for the issue and where they can be pre-ordered at CBR.
