Well, what you may not know is that AMC has started filming on it, and today AMC posted their first look at what the zombies of The Walking Dead TV show will look like. And I’ve gotta say, they look pretty fantastic. See the above image for the make up crew (man) hard at work, and see below for how the transformations look. It’s pretty great.

On Wed., Jun. 2 production began in Atlanta for AMC’s adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic The Walking Dead. The six-episode first season — written, produced and directed by three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) — follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home after a zombie apocalypse.

Those aren’t the only pictures, though! There are more, of people in actual zombie make up! It looks so real it’s scary, and makes us only THAT much more excited for the show! For those that don’t know, check out the synopsis for the first season of the show:

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
