I am so excited to type that headline.

This past weekend at PAX, German game developer Attract Mode and Ubisoft had a small bit of their 8-Bit Scott Pilgrim video game that will be coming out in coordination with the final volume of the book as well as the movie. Ever since this was first announced by (at least, where I saw it) Bryan Lee O’ Malley, this has easily been a highly anticipated game for myself since I love Scott Pilgrim and I love 8-Bit games.

The game will feature you as Scott Pilgrim traversing various levels to fight Ramona’s 7 evil exes in order to be able to date her and live happily ever after. Hooray! NOT ONLY THAT, but the theme song (if not more) is being provided by the fantastic bit crushing band Anamanaguchi, who have been a favorite of mine since they released a free EP online (and their album last year, Dawn Metropolis, was one of my favorites all year). Anamanaguchi performed the song live for the packed convention hall, and it was glorious.

Check behind the cut for the theme song, and be sure to check out Attract Mode for more fantastic screen caps.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
