Starting with issue #759 in June, the main “Wonder Woman” title will have a brand new creative team in writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Mikel Janín. Artist David Marquez is providing covers for their run. The pair are taking over from departing writer Steve Orlando and artist Jesus Merino, ending their run on the book which began late last year. Ahead of his live-action debut the same month in Wonder Woman 1984, Tamaki and Janín will be reviving DC big bad Maxwell Lord for their ride.

Polygon, who broke the news, reported that “the new story arc picks up with Diana in the aftermath of her battle with the Four Horsewomen, a time when life on the mere-mortal wavelength is tricky, and a new threat looms. Not helping the matter: the return of Machiavellian businessman Maxwell Lord. The classic villain shows up in issue #760 looking for help, and Diana’s quest to do the right thing makes for a complicated decision.”

Tamaki is perhaps best known for her graphic novels “Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me” and the Eisner-winning “This One Summer.” While this is her first ongoing work for DC Comics, she was one of the writers on the milestone issue “Wonder Woman” #750, and wrote the recent DC Kids graphic novel “Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass” with artist Steve Pugh. Janín is a DC mainstay having been one of the main artists for Tom King’s three-year wrapped “Batman” run, and “Grayson” with King and Tim Seeley prior.

The book will continue to double-ship with #759 out June 10th and #760 two weeks later on June 24th. You can check out Marquez’s cover for the first two issues, as well as Jim Lee’s variant for #759 and Joshua Middleton’s for #760 below.
